​1945- 46    Reached the Final of League Division 3 ( South ) Cup against Walsall, winning 1-0 ..................and gaining their first Football League Trophy.

1947- 48    Finished 2nd in the League with a record 24 wins in the season.

​1949- 50    Clubs Golden Jubilee Season. Lost 2-0 v Nottingham Forest Finished 12th in League

​1953- 54    First competitive meeting between close neighbours Southampton, twice in the ..................League and F.A. Cup

1955- 56    Club admitted to being in financial trouble at the AGM, Admission charge raised to ..................two shillings

1956- 57    Arrival of Freddie Cox as Manager,bringing a new style of football to the Club. Keen ..................on youth development. Cox was also a firm stance in open attacking football. The ..................team had a tremendous F.A Cup run, beating Wolves 1.0 in the 4th round, Spurs in ..................the 5th 3-1 at Dean Court and played the famous Busby Babes in the 6th Rd at ..................Dean Court in front of a crowd record 28,799, unfortunatley losing 2-1. As a result ..................the Club was awarded the Sunday Pictorial" Giant Killers cup"

1956- 57    Dickie Dowsett joined from Southampton £100 -scored 67 in 169 games                                       Stan Newsham, Lew Clayton with manager Freddie Cox 1957 ( right )​

1956- 57    The Supporters Club was formed.

1957- 58    The Football League formed the Fourth Division, though Bournemouth stayed in the ..................3rd Division as a result of their 9th finish the year before.

1957- 58    Freddie Cox left to Manage 1st division Portsmouth.

1961- 62    Narrowly missed out on promotion to the second division by a mere 3 points     

1962- 63    Year of the " Big freeze " in which nine weeks passed without football due to the  ..................weather. Finished in 5th place      ..................



1965- 66    Freddie Cox returned as Manager. The team, however came close to relegation.

1969- 70    Signed Ted MacDougall​ ( right ) â€‹from York City, but nevertheless were relegated to                      the.4th Division.

​1970- 71    John Bond replaces Freddie Cox as Manager.MacDougall set F.A record.scoring ( 6 )                   in an 8-1 victory over non-league Oxford City. The Club won promotion .................                      .to the 3rd Division.

1970- 71    AFCB changed  their strip from red and white to red & black stripes

1971- 72    AFCB and Ted MacDougall made national news headlines with AFCB winning 11-0 ..................at home to Margate in the F.A. Cup with MacDougall scoring 9 goals ( A new                                 record! 

​1972- 73    Ted MacDougall was transfered to Manchester United for £200,000 and the team ..................narrowly missed out on promotion.

​1973- 74    John Bond​ ( right ) left for Norwich City. A huge player turnover followed and the  ..................team.finished well down the table.

​1974- 75    Relegated to the 4th Division

​1978- 79    The return of Ted MacDougall on a free transfer from Southampton. Alec Stock ​..................replaces John Benson as Manager. Bournemouth won 7-1 against Doncaster in his ..................first game, their best in 22 years.However they finished 18th in the Division.

​1979- 80    MacDougall left to become assistant Manager at Blackpool

​1980- 81    David Webb became Player-Manager

1981- 82    Finished season with 17 unbeaten games to finish 4th and win promotion to the   ..................3rd Division.....   ...............​

1982- 83    â€‹David Webb dismissed and replaced by caretaker Manager Harry Redknapp until  ..................Don Megson was named Manager. The team finished 14th in their first season                           back in the third Division. A noteable signing was the appearance of the ..................Legendary George Best in the no.7 shirt, a crowd of 9000 turned up to see the ..................legend ( right ) he played a further five games during that season when he retired.​​​​
